So why should a business hire an agency to manage their social media? Truth is, most business owners don’t have time to manage their social media effectively on their own. With literally hundreds and hundreds of different platforms out there, how could they? To be successful at Social media, it is all about understanding who your target audience really is and how you can reach them. For example, if I had a business that focused on senior services (ages 65+), what social media platform might I use? The answer is Facebook. With over 2 billion monthly active users on Facebook, it is hard to argue their presence is the dominant social media network. The Pew Research Center completed a study in January of 2018 which shows that Facebook has a 41% penetration rate among seniors 65+, followed closely by YouTube with 40%.
The next nearest network was Pinterest with 16% for the 65+ community. Now let’s flip that around if my target audience was in the 18-29 age bracket, the answer changes a little. YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram become viable networks now. Now that doesn’t mean we exclude Facebook and other channels, it just means we need to see where we can get the “biggest bang for our buck” if you will.
