Animal Transportation

South Central Illinois Mass Transit District (SCT) accommodates the transportation of animals, excluding service animals, provided that clients adhere to specific guidelines ensuring safety and comfort for all passengers. When scheduling a ride, clients must inform dispatching/scheduling of their intention to bring an animal on board. The animal must be contained in a pet taxi or an approved secure carrier, and clients are solely responsible for loading, unloading, and cleaning up after the animal. Clients must also follow the driver's instructions regarding the animal's transportation. It's important to note that animals, other than service animals, will only be transported if they are in an approved, secure containment device. Service animals are welcome but must remain on the floor and out of the aisle area of the bus, with the client responsible for their conduct throughout the journey. With these guidelines in place, SCT ensures a safe and comfortable experience for all passengers, including furry companions.
